Twenty young chefs from across Hartford will put their cooking skills to the test Tuesday during the 2026 Kids Cooking Club Culinary Championship, hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and Stop & Shop.
The competition will bring together youth representing five Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford locations after preliminary competitions held throughout the city. Participants will compete in a series of culinary challenges featuring healthy recipes, ingredients provided by Stop & Shop and produce grown in Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford gardens.
Local chefs and community personalities will judge teams on taste, creativity, presentation and teamwork before a citywide champion is crowned.
The event will also include a $60,000 donation from Stop & Shop to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford to support after-school programming, nutrition education and healthy lifestyle initiatives for youth ages 6 to 18.
Judges for the competition include Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford alumnus and food influencer David Milton, Keith McGilvery of Good News Guy and Gabe Boyd, chef and owner of 881 Grab & Go.
The 2026 Kids Cooking Club Culinary Championship will take place Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Southwest Boys & Girls Club, 1 Chandler Street in Hartford.
